Skilled, personal care, even when our GPs are fully booked

When you’re unwell, the last thing you need is to be turned away. At Health on Henley, our nurses are a central part of how we look after you. They’re highly skilled clinicians in their own right, and they work hand in hand with our GPs so that you can get the care you need, often on the same day.

Healthcare should be built on relationships, not transactions. Our nurse-led care is one of the ways we keep that promise, making sure there’s a place for you here even on our busiest days.

A team you can rely on

Our nurses are among the most experienced members of our healthcare team. Many are studying towards becoming nurse practitioners, bringing advanced training and a genuine commitment to looking after the whole person, not just the symptom in front of them. They take the time to listen, to understand your health story, and to make sure nothing gets missed.

What our nurses can help you with

    • Immunisations including routine and travel vaccinations for every stage of life
    • Injections such as a range of prescribed injections administered with care
    • Wound management including assessment, dressing and ongoing care to help you heal
    • Chronic condition management ongoing support to help you stay well and in control of long-term conditions
    • Health assessments thorough checks to understand your complete health picture
    • Procedures including microsuction ear cleaning

If you’re not sure whether a nurse can help with your concern, our reception team is always happy to point you in the right direction.

    How nurse-led appointments work

If you’re feeling unwell and we don’t have a GP appointment available, we can usually offer you an appointment with one of our nurses instead. Here’s what that looks like.

    1. Your nurse assessment. Your nurse takes the time to understand what’s going on and completes a thorough assessment of your health.
    2. Working with your GP. Your nurse works alongside one of our GPs to organise what you need, whether that’s blood tests or other pathology, imaging, a sick certificate or a prescription.
    3. Your GP sees you too. After your nurse assessment, the GP will see you to make sure you’re being well looked after. Because your nurse has already done the groundwork in preparing you, our GPs are able to care for more patients on the day

    Your choice, always

We’ll only ever offer a nurse appointment because we believe it’s a good way to help you sooner. You never have to accept it. You’re always welcome to book a GP appointment when one becomes available, or to seek care elsewhere if that suits your needs and preferences better. The choice is yours, every time.
