Dr Melanie Mateo completed her medical degree and training in the Philippines. In 2007, she moved to Australia, beginning as an ED registrar at Blacktown/Mt Druitt Hospital. Her journey continued in outback NSW (Dubbo, Broken Hill and Wilcannia) in 2014, where she undertook General Practice training. She has been a fellow of the RACGP since 2017.
In 2021, Dr. Mateo relocated to South Australia and continued working in general practice, including clinic work, aged care, and home visits. Along the way, she pursued additional training and developed special interests and skills. However, at her core, she considers herself a generalist. General Practice is what she enjoys most and does best.
